HMS Invincible - Orient 1992

HMS Invincible was the Royal Navy 's lead ship of her class of three light aircraft carriers. She was launched on 3 May 1977 as the seventh ship to carry the name. She was originally designated as an anti-submarine warfare carrier, but was used as an aircraft carrier during the Falklands War, when she was deployed with HMS Hermes. A young cook of 20 years old stepped aboard this beautiful ship, yep that was me…..

This was my first sea draft and how lucky was I, as we were about to set sail with a crew of around 1200 for a six and half month deployment to the Far East. Little did I realise how much my culinary skills were about to grow. How could they not whilst visiting places like Greece, Diego Garcia, Mombasa, Japan, Hong Kong, Penang, South Korea and so many more. Come back and visit our blog from time to time as I will have many sea stories from when I visited these places and which has given my the skills to launch The Mariners Galley.
